I looked into it and apparently the character Suneo/Sneech is described as "cunning and has a way with words, that even Gian is always pleased by his "praise" in singing and taking adults' hearts by praising them."
huge suck up, snitching,
yeah... that checks out with Suneo in Doraemon
can't imagine Ruri as Gian, tho

I guess there aren't many famous characters with such traits that can be easily used as references

A direct confirmation that Ruri is indeed one of the culprits in Arika's disappearance, but it's still unclear whether it was intentional or not. I like mystery stories where we know whats going on, but not enough to get the full picture.

Damn. The plot thickens. It seems like they're trying to set up that maybe Ruri is 100% responsible for Arika's disappearance.

Yeah, I’m in favour of skipping those recaps. Doesn’t say anything new, text is tiny and sideways, and I feel compelled to read it since I don’t want to miss anything important if it was snuck in there

A "suck-up" is a good translation for Suneo.

In Doraemon, Suneo is the rich-boy, arrogant character who had no friends if not for Gian, the big-bodied school bully. Suneo sucked up to Gian to gain his protection and to protect himself from being bullied, and used the money at his disposal to feed both of their egos. Gian was more than happy to eat up the praises Suneo sang his way.

So basically a suck-up, yeah.

I'm still not convinced Arika's really dead. This author really loves to misdirect the readers. That being said, I have no good explanation for why she wouldn't be! Ruri is such an interesting character. I expect we'll eventually be shown how she faced similar unfair corporate pressures but chose cruelly to protect herself. Thank you for the chapter!
