I'm pretty sure her being suicidal was not (explicitly) stated to be why she was appetising. We can believe shiori that a good mental state is yummier, but the source of her scent change we still don't fully know, which happened right after the accident (which could be her coming close to death, the mermaid blood, or, like you said depression/suicidalness).
