I want to point out that the MC actually apologized properly and formally. He didn't try to pass it off as "you shouldn't feel this way." He specifically said that he was sorry for making an off handed comment that he now regrets.

Really cannot stress enough just how stupid and contrived this has all been. Especially this and the last chapter. Taking the worst possible path from point A to point B by featuring one incredibly durable stalker is just too unreasonable. It is a shame to stumble this badly this early, but I can imagine it won't matter in the long run. Taking the cheap way out seems to be the lesson here anyway.
