Did you know USA sold Nigeria 12 AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopters at price of ~450$ million which is half of normal price? Why did they do that, you ask? Because to stop more Turkish made T129 ATAK attack helicopters to be ordered by Nigeria therefore to reduce Turkish and increase USA influences on Nigeria. Another reason is to deny money flow to Turkish companies even if it means selling military hardware at half price. Now you might argue by saying USA still getting huge money from this deal even if profits are not at desired levels. Yes but also if we think about maintenance and ammunition costs needed to use those helicopters, USA might even milk much more money from Nigeria just by increasing costs of maintenance services and armament replenishments. Which is also what USA did before many times to Turkiye. Also the reason of why Turkiye went to Italy and bought licence rights to produce upgraded A129 Mangusta helicopters under the name of T129 ATAK. Nigeria might regret making this deal later. Stay tuned for Nigeria in the future.
