Hello! As usual, some extra notes:
  • I'm sure everyone already knows what's up with the colors. I ruminated on how I was going to translate gendered first-person pronouns to English. At first, I thought of just adding the gender symbols (♂ and ♀) next to the pronouns, but it looked like shit. Then I thought about placing an asterisk next to each pronoun with a related TL note, but it also looked like shit. I then settled on the color system, which was used here. The unfortunate side effect is anyone reading at night and has monochromatic colors on (or anyone who's colorblind) won't be able to understand jack shit.
  • Akira has always used "boku" throughout the manga. I actually found this interesting at first but you usually never mind it since, although it's rare, it's not a big deal.
  • Kai and Yuuto have always used "ore", be it in kanji (俺) or (more commonly) in katakana (オレ).
  • Akira and Akimama always use "mama" and "papa" here, the variations to "father" and "mother" are to make the sentence flow smoother.
  • (p. 3) "My" was supposed to be "I", but I can't make Akira stutter on a single letter so I changed it to "my". It doesn't really matter since she never says the whole sentence anyway.
  • (p. 4) The original sentence that the guy screams is 「それぞれの個性を」, literally meaning "each one's individuality". There's multiple translations I can go with for this, but I went with "Everyone should each have their own identity!" since it fit the context. Do tell me if that needs fixing.
  • (p. 7) Akira uses "boku" here, as she always does throughout the manga. But I thought it would be important to make that explicit distinction here, to show that she retained use of the pronoun even after growing up (and even if people skipped the credit page).
  • (p. 7) Cute, in some contexts, can occasionally mean "hot" or "attractive". Colloquial use of the term varies. If you're ever wondering why a grown woman is being called "kawaii"... there you go.
  • (p. 8) Top left panel. Woman in tights. Hell yeah.
  • (p. 9) Literally attempted murder.
We don't have much background info on her (what's her family like, what she does outside of school or stalking, etc.), so I'm half expecting the stalking to be the result of some attachment issues (p. 5 gives a hint of that, on the bottom panel this time).
:haa:

As I said in last chapter's post, chapters are going to start coming out much later than last time. This will last for around 5 chapters. You can read more about the reasoning in the past post. If reader turnout crashes because of this, I'll be looking for ways to try and get the turnaround time shortened. That's it! Next chapter comes out on March 4, 2023. Hope everyone had a lonely valentines day like I did, see y'all around.

So the loose screw was hereditary. Still it's sad that she could have grown up normally if not for her mother's obsession

Anyone wanna help me find some fucks to give to the stalker girl?

I seem to have lost them somewhere. 🤷‍♂️
While I think it's bad what happened to her it defo doesn't excuse her behavior.

It also now makes slightly more sense why she's attached to the older brother. What I don't get though is why she didn't use female pronouns in school and changed to the male at home? This feels like a semi forced drama writing but not the worst, A for effort.

This flashback though really seems out of nowhere though, I thought for a moment I had missed a chapter, thing is did this series forget who the MC's are? While the Yandere is ofcourse a MC, so is the little brother and as a result really shouldn't the Older brother be the MC instead? This really feel like Yandere and Older brothers story and the younger brother just happens to be there.

I thought her doing part time stuff would give her feel of independence (from crazy mom) and confidence but maybe still a bit introverted, not sure why the guy saving the day there made her stalker-ish really. More on that next chapter I'm guessing.

Menhera lore as usual. The funny thing is 'he saved me omg I'm in love and i need to harass the f out of him' justifying just backfired. I mean the FMC definitely knows how it felt to being harassed yet goes down to same route while being a d to little brother. Bruh...

Yeah, like everyone else is saying, having a tragic backstory doesn’t excuse someone to be an extremely shitty person.

Especially in a situation like this when her answer to not connecting to her psycho-mom is to be just as unhinged with someone else.

Surprise, surprise. People who have shitty parents can end up being shitty people. Why are people so hung up on this thinking somehow this justifies her actions? These two things don't have to be connected or are the lot of you too autistic to realize that?

Sigh, why is it that these types of characters always need some sort of "tragic" backstory to try and justify their shitty actions?
Wouldn't it be much weirder and scarier if she was naturally batshit insane?
I mean, it's not like I'm going to kinkshame you if that's what you wanted from a character, but this was kinda obvious that it wasn't going this route.

To the people above, mental health doesnt need to be excused. Its just many different issues all converging into one person that shape their sense of being. At the end the person is still responsible for their own actions.

Its a girl with no father, with a controlling mother with clear depression and what seems to be alcoholism, denying her whole identity, then bullying in school and no friends until big bro shows up and is the only guy to ever remotely care for her wellbeing.

Because usually that’s how it works, people just don’t wake up and just become crazy or evil like this, they’re a product of their environment and experiences, it’s not really justification as it is giving the character more depth instead of her just being a two dimensional stalker yandere trope

Since it's more interesting to see that the character is not just one-dimensionally evil for the sake of evil? I mean yeah, sometimes a shitty character without any reason might work sometimes but it also can be boring/confusing if we don't actually get the villain's motivation at all. It will look like the villain is just being placed there by the author whenever the MC needs some hardship without any rhyme lol. It's not a justification to absolve their shitty-ness though, it's just made it easier to understand the conflict afterward, at least for me.
