Considering how things like this go, I can't tell if the artist purposely chose to make Princess Diane to look like Jolene's sister with darker skin and it's meant to he foreshadowing or if they just weren't thinking.

It's not uncommon for the manga characters to look nothing like they're LN counterparts so it could be either.
