she is Ok with forcing him, but complains if he does the same?
why is the author wasting pages, if both are the same?(her complains, how he is bad etc.)
Are they actually trying to make him more sympathetic by him being jelly over her watching knights?
Her concerns over how he clearly had a real smile and seemed to enjoy what he was doing is totally valid reasons why to not trust his supposed "It was all a ruse".
As I've said before he should have told her what he was gonna do, neglecting her and all the other bad stuff just to expose a traitor doesn't make any logical sense if he loved her as he claimed.
