Basically what I came in here to mention as well. That was probably the most natural sounding bad mouthing I've read in a manga where yeah, they're talking behind her back, but it wasn't mean spirited if that makes sense. It sounds like a conversation people would actually have when someone suddenly acts different

If there was someone in my class that never interacted with anyone or participated in group activities, and then suddenly they started acting super hype and close, I'd weirded out. They also recognized that it was a bit mean and she likely had circumstances, honestly they were reasonable.
