each chapter is exposition after exposition 😭 so fast paced and dialogue heavy- i know you have to attract the readers attention in the first volume but
have a little bit of “show not tell” mixed in there

rereading this and it's kinda sick that they didn't take his mother back after she mistakenly entered the village. Dera knows the way out. They could've just imprisoned her until he came back then blindfolded her and escorted her out of the village, along with threatening to hurt her if she says anything about them. If she did say anything most people would think she's just think she's a classic hysterical woman who was traumatized after being lost.
