Dude, this situation has Usagi Drop written all over it. Which means that "cement their relationship" = "future waifu get".

(Though the second half of the Usagi Drop manga is kinda cringe in that she decides she's gonna marry the man that raised her, it does turn out that she only makes this decision after finding out that she actually has no blood relation to him. His grandfather, who took care of her at first until he passed away, wasn't her father. She was just an unwanted daughter of a woman-mangaka that the old man was a friend of.)

Honestly it's kind of obvious from the first episode of the anime at least that that's what it is. Also this is CLEARLY not the usagi drop situation due to the fact that its clear what this man's intentions are from the very beginning.
