Yeah, that's the problem. One person's great love is another person's "how disgusting". Society is like that. I'd normally say, if it doesn't hurt anyone and all the partners are capable of consent and do so, then the rest of should butt out. The problem is that relationships are also social institutions. How they fit with the broader society does matter. For example, it may be better to be with someone who is intellectually and emotionally compatible.
