Firstly,as stupid as accusing someone like that is,thank goodness is wasn't a dumb teacher AGAIN.

Secondly,it might actually be the twin brother stating that an action that occurred when they were younger that involved the quadruplets caused her to loose out on their interest at the time,the childhood friend.

This kind of dumb misunderstanding makes more sense than trying to flesh out clever reasoning or paint a character as villainous. Realistically, people are stupid, and journalists are no better. This works. I hope it doesn't drag on too long though.
