Im really liking this series for a very simple reason: Kuroda isn't using a deck that fits his character. Since this manga promotes the physical product, the author could have made him use another archeotype from a recent set (a year ago). For example, in booster pack with Mathmechs you could also find Dragonmaids (dragon waifus that transform by swapping places between hand and battlefield) and Generaiders (lv9 boss monsters that summon tokens to stop the opponent from playing).
And probably Generaiders themes and aesthetics would fit Kuroda better, but no. In real life one doesn't pick a deck simply because he dresses or behaves in a certain way, but for many very simple reasons, like finding a rare boss monster or not having much money and building a budget deck from scratch. Every deck has a personal story and feel, and matching a person with a deck is unfair to both.

While that is largely true, there are several exceptions that I have met. There was one kid who really liked comics and played exclusively HERO decks when I was younger. On the other hand, while I don't have any specific archetypes that I am bound to, I like to play Mikankos and really dislike playing pure beatdown decks. I do agree that it shouldn't be universal though.
