There are a few things I like to do to avoid this problem. Take a full inventory of his or her home so you know what not to get them. If you got them something and later find out they already have one, just destroy the one they already have. If they have something you were planning on getting them simply steal theirs and give it back to them, I'd recommend this one it's a lot cheaper.

Tho personality wise I’d think Nozaki and Miharu would pick diff things even if they didn’t shop together /coordinate
