I feel like it's Gerald's speech/thoughts in 3rd panel - "I have no fever", "for me to hardly". I guess it's a bit hard with Japanese, when they don't put arrows in text bubbles.

It wasn't Gerald's thoughts. The character was talking to himself out loud, which is probably why it came across as confusing.

Well, speech is more probable, yes. I meant that it was Gerald's lines, as there is no one else beside him or looking at him in the panels nearby.
