Wait a sec, so the hero can't own slaves? But Ceres is using his authority as a member of the hero party to practice polygamy? I feel like if he's using the hero's status for that, he also wouldn't be allowed to own slaves (which Shizuka was when he first got her).

But I guess it doesn't matter if you don't get caught, or maybe the slave thing just applies to the hero, not his party (which seems like a kind of shallow distinction then).
