At least the duo will own up to their crimes and atone for that. so they are not getting off the hook. they might work it off which isn't so bad for them.
don't you love it when that happens? it gives you the warm fuzzy feeling inside. hopefully they the duo also get to redeem themselves after their atonement.

I get the feeling the next few chapters will focus on the house spirit judging on the chapter ending.

Damn, all of those chapters for this arc to end like this, what a waste of time :haa:
Thanks for the translation
Man, what an unnecessary rewriting of this section, but whatever, I guess the editors wanted it resolved in a "happier" way. Japan's obsession with "harmony" and "reconciliation" will never not be comical. At least that scene with Tina was nice. :wooow:
So I guess it wasn’t like that in the ln/wn, mind sharing how it went there ?

It's been a while since I read it, and I didn't remember all the specifics, so I decided to check it out again. It turns out I was half-wrong and the rewrite happened from the WN to LN, which essentially gave new personalities to these two morons, so it was the LN editors who wanted things to be "happier/nicer."
In the WN, they were much nastier and unrepentant, so Rein decided to turn them in and forget they existed(lol), and eventually, after this whole thing with the merchant is resolved, we learn the guild revoked their licenses when he visits the guild and overhears them arguing with the staff. They also try to beg Rein for forgiveness and offer to pay him to cover it up as he's leaving, but he doesn't want to give them the time of day. One thing that got cut here from both the WN and LN is Rein being most angry at them because their bullshit could've led to the poachers escaping and bringing danger to the hornwolves. That was pretty cute and very Rein-like, so I'm sad to see it go.
PS. MD links to the WN page on NU instead of the LN page, and I didn't notice the related series link because I'm blind, lol~:boomer:

Wowowow so the WN was SO much better in terms of an arc. I was wondering why they were such assholes before this and then Rein just decided to let them go after they said they would turn themselves in. Too wholesome. It didn’t match the severity of what they did.

Thanks for the translation!

Ended... more or less as expected. Seems like they want MC to not dirty his hands with them, so they do themselves in. Kinda lame. And I'm saying that as someone who's a huge believer in forgiveness.

"Rich people are usually bad guys."
Unfortunately true.

Poor, lonely ghost maid.

the rewrite happened from the WN to LN
This is usually the case. Manga tends to follow the LN reasonably closely, or completely different from either LN or WN. But yeah, WN sounds better.

Yeah, I knew that, pretty much no consequences for the criminals. The whole arc was pretty much a useless sidestory, that's just a bad writing. There is no point in being pissed at some manga, so I'm just dropping it.

Is often farce, but I find it far less disturbing than the pathos of certain other nations which seem to be acutely obsessed with accountability/punishment.

If this series was for a younger audience, I'd forgive the sloppy "everyone was happy at the end" resolution. But with the fanservice, the harem tag, this is clearly meant for teenagers+. It makes no sense to chase this sort of PG content instead of a logical resolution. Its so disappointing when the art is good, the story isn't total ass and then the writers decide to just.. Yeet logic out the window for a happy ending that makes no sense.
The MC and his gang was treated like SCUM by these two. Yet now they're totally okay with it! All the shit talking is totally okay now :) Nobody is angry :)) They'll lose their adventure status! That's bad enough! For trying to kill several people. Weird that.
