That is "シシャモ", a fish https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shishamo
considering the character and the kind of jokes this manga have I assume they probably are regular words used in place of similar spicier expressions, one of them is "peach pie" and I think it is a replacement for "cream pie".
Aha, I see! I wasn't able to see the little flick on the third letter in the raws, just took her at face value when she said yelling nonsense heh. I'll look into the other words and see if they've done similar things. Thanks for the heads up!

GAY PRIEST MENTIONED

I should know by now that whenever there's something that makes no sense to me in a manga it's a JoJo reference. I swear I'll get around to reading it one of these days.

To Kreah Leiser.

Thank you so much for picking up this manga! Someone asked for good but unknown manga recommendations and I happened to remember this one, and it was such a joy to see that another 2 whole chapters where translated. I, too, started reading this during a very deep depression (thanks to the random button, such a cool feature!), and it was one of the extremely few things that could make me either smile, laugh, or make me feel good at all. So thank you so much for dedicating the time and effort to translate something so niche like this manga, great job btw. As an unrelated note, I hope one day I can get the printed edition of it.

Again, thank you a lot.

Small update to anyone looking in here wondering about more chapters.
I'm unsure where things sit with MD right now, as everything suddenly became a massive grey zone. We actually have a tickbox now that says "I am authorized by the copyright owner to upload this content to MangaDex" in order to upload, you can imagine I'm a bit reluctant.
To that end, until MD clarify what's going on, and where everything sits, I'll have to let the rest of the chapters sit. I do apologise.

The author has all but moved on from this series, unfortunately. The last chapter (106) was in 2020 with no indication he plans on continuing. Early in 2024 he made a fanbox post where he mentioned the series, apologizing for not resuming serialization and saying it's all because of his incompetence, without giving much of an explanation beyond that.

He's also currently working on another manga about a vtuber that actually gets regular updates, and it's gotten decently popular (way more than this series that's for sure).

Maybe in a distant future he'll come back to it but for the time being it feels like a lost cause.
Ah damn, that sucks...
Thx for the info.

Probably not gonna check out that other manga. I have 0 interest in vtubers. :/

There's a group called Bear Necessaries, if I'm recalling correctly, who made these horrific TL pages with memes of Shinzo Abe edited into a bear and talking about procreation. I always looked forward to the end of chapters they'd done just to see what memes they conjure up. Some groups have some absolutely incredible TL pages haha
Shinzo Abear is nightmare fuel. I hate those pages so much even though I'm kind of attached to them. (Stockholm Syndrome?)

That checkbox is essentially so that if it ever comes to a lawsuit, Mangadex can deny liability for the presence of copyright protected content on the site. In that case, legal responsibility would likely be pushed off onto the users or smth, though I doubt there would be any consequences for that. All this internet stuff is mostly anonymous, and no one is going to go after a broke individual scanlating manga (there's no money in that.) Copyright infringement is almost never pursued as a criminal offense, so it always falls upon the copyright owners to track down the infringer and (in the case of a lawsuit,) it is taken into the civil courts, so I don't think there's anything for the users to fear. (Mangadex does have legitimate concerns however, even if they manage to win or weasel their way out of a lawsuit it surely wouldn't end without financial loss for them, and they are naturally the bigger target for a lawsuit.)
The only thing the checkbox is really doing for the scanlators is reminding them that they're doing something illegal (which they should never have forgotten in the first place,) and thus instilling fear.

Functionally yes I'd say you're right for the most part. Still, I don't doubt the scum-fuckery of the corporate world either. We've probably all seen the kind of stuff Nintendo and the likes pull too. It is a very small percentage risk, but a risk nonetheless.

What I'm on the fence about is more using Mangadex going forward. A lot of the stuff I'm actively reading is moving off-site due to "recent changes". What if the publisher for this series is next to throw in? Or another major strike sees another 7000 series vanish. That tickbox by itself is no issue, I would have pulled my existing two chapters if it was. It's more what it represents.

Hmm yeah, I see your point.

This manga has been in the process of being translated for so long that it got stopped by the v3 closure AND the dmca massacre

Honestly I hoped me doing a couple of chapters would nudge a group to pick this up. I'm a classic weeb example of knowing how to speak but not read this language (especially not kanji), so this manga has been rough due to the amount of word play and my chosen method is literally speaking the dialogue out loud. I'm genuinely just not equipped enough for this. Add to that Sakuma talking in a different dialect with different rules..

As an example, I have the semi complete chapter 88 here and one page is full of references to some comedian called Nezutchi. As you can imagine there's a ton of wordplay that I missed during the process until someone pointed it out to me. Then I had to redo the entire page. Kinda just went "fuck this, if every one of the remaining 18 chapters is gonna be like this.."

The copyright stuff certainly does bother me, seeing as all this work could just be stamped out by what looked like an automated mass report, so going through a ton of effort to translate this then have it nuked with as little effort as possible just... Yeah.
