The volume ends on a happy note. I wonder what will happen come volume 3, because last time the volume ended well for Kurumi and Naoi, it immediately turned the tables on them at the start of volume 2. But hopefully there's still some lighthearted moments.
Even if they can temporarily escape the school for a few weeks due to summer break, they still have to deal with their parents. Both of whom are likely furious given that the school most likely called both of them after what Kurumi and Naoi did in the classroom. Naoi purposely slammed into the teacher on the way out and insulted him.
Naoi's dad seems like the type to hit her and Kurumi's mother almost slashed her with a knife while threatening to self-harm for something much more minor than what just happened. If they return home or get found, they are in trouble.
As for the classmates, it was nice to see that not everyone believed Isanuma. One of the class gyarus seemed like she was pretty level-headed. Although Kokoro broke down and has seemingly decided to not have anything to do with Kurumi anymore now that she's realized she's changed.
Isanuma was dealt with, but keep in mind that chapter 8 revealed her shorter friend was the one that was pushing her into getting mad at Kurumi. And that same girl was conveniently nowhere to be seen when the classroom mess started. Isanuma's tall friend was trying unsuccessfully to stop Isanuma from doing something that would make things worse. So, I honestly expect the short girl to find some new pawns once they return to school in the fall to continue to harrass Kurumi and possibly Naoi now.
As for character growth, Kurumi and Naoi are starting to make changes but still have a way to go. Kurumi was deferring to Naoi who was in turn trying to get Kurumi to make her own choices. And Naoi's insecurites are still there, because she doubted Kurumi repeatedly this chapter, even assuming that Kurumi immediately regretted what she had done in the classroom. So hopefully they'll communicate with each other more going forward, but they were at least trying to be honest with each other.
