throughout the entire series, chainsaw man has done like literally nothing but make denji miserable. it's a big shell that keeps him safe from the world, but you can only stay in a shell for so long until you eventually need to molt. at some point neither the world, and more importantly denji, needs a chainsaw man. i think pochita made the right choice by deleting himself, especially considering the fucked up state the world was in prior to it. i do think the series could have used maybe one or two more chapters in between though

the entire series is ultimately a coming of age plotline and i don't think this was even hidden. chainsaw man was really just a way for denji to make sense of the world and when you can't keep using your convenient excuse anymore there's nothing left for you to do except to move forward in life. something something themes and such.
