ya know, in these game element stories its clean that while author wants MC with a sob story they also know having a family to worry about is a drag. Now he's free to do what he wants.
Still i find his stupid choice to threaten chief realistic. Of course he didn't understand that you cant just kill someone and take their stuff as a farmer.

Lu Bu was famously an idiot who betrayed everyone around him (like 3 times) because he was very easy to manipulate
Also getting the family out the way is understandable, having no family means he can go around and do whatever he wants without having to worry and spend time with family the way a normal person realistically would've, Martial Peak for example kept MC's parents alive till the end, but having MC kneel and grovel under his parents and let them hit him over the head even when he's a God gets annoying after the 30th time
