Yeah, I'm surprised the author wasn't greedy in taking advantage of misunderstanding to stretched out the drama. But I guess that only work for fast paced storyline and doing it with this manga with already it's own slow pace would be bad, like we only just got to the academy part after 20+ chapter and the timeskip are done moderately without a sudden huge 6-10 years time skip
