Interesting, trying to capture the feeling of being in school, falling for the girl that is not the most popular girl etc. and peoples reactions...
the whole not-really-confession part was a bit too effective- I felt the second hand embarrassment so much i nearly skipped the story afterwards.

I felt personally attacked by this manga wtf. Also I blame Haruhi for awakening my ponytail fetish

It's a crime how perfectly she looks with this hairstyle

This is why we shouldnt have teen romance. Non of em are old enough nor wise enough to read the room and others feelings yet .
Good intension combine with misguided idea leads to an extremly awkward situation.
Good for our boi for being able to defuse the situation and the girls for being understanding

Wow... this is some sleeper gourmet. It's pretty common for manga to put emphasis on the word "youth" as a core theme, but it's rare for it to be both unspoken, and also actually felt. Often it just feels a bit hollow, like an imitation of what youth could be.
Another commenter said they're glad this is a oneshot, I have to agree. This emotion is powerful but, it would be lost completely in a serialization.

Re-read so I could remember what the me from 2.5 years ago posted, and it more than likely would have been from Fullmetal Panic? Fumoffu, talking about ponytails.

I fully understand what he means by appreciating the beauty of her ponytail doesn't necessarily mean he likes her

That being said, I do think he ended up liking her, and more importantly, even if you don't exactly like her, if she's interested in you and you find her (or at least her hair?) cute, there's no real harm in being straight forward in trying to date her I think? Or at least asking to be friends?
