It's more "realistic" to me.

Since the 1st chapter, that is not reincarnation, cuz the child is suddenly has her memories. It's a possession. If it is real reincarnation, she should has the memory since she is a baby, not in sudden time.

afaik, some myth about reincarnation in Japan said, the past spirit cannot dwell the earthian body for too long because the dead should stay dead, thus they might fade away eventually.

Necro time:

A) Plenty of reincarnation stories have the people remembering later on in life, often as a result of accident, or some other trigger.

B) Thanks for the warning. I'm dropping this now and saving myself the anger.

Last chapter was so foreboding... Also this chapter feels a bit grimey, also damn I knew it, it has his girlfriend that got swept up, glad he was able to continue living his life and managed to find a new cute gf.

....Woah. Okay that's definitely something that these two lovebirds will need to talk about eventually.

Renji already went through eight years dealing with his "girlfriend's" disappearance. Mai might see this relationship they have as a mere replacement, but I hope she sees that he may have allowed himself to enter this in an attempt to finally move forward on this aspect of his life.

I seem pretty optimistic saying all this but they seem like reasonable people, willing to understand their partner, and both have secrets that they'll need to open to each other eventually. No drama, just genuine understanding.
