Yeah, she didn't learn jack shit from the experience: instead of listening to the professional that has always helped her, she dived into a repair she hasn't the knowledge, the tools or even the proper lighting for. That was exactly what landed her in her current trouble: she tried to "fix" a small problem, until it become a big problem.
Same for the housing: she didn't even bother to ask the management for clarification or for an exception, despite her teacher telling her they were willing to help, in light of her peculiar situation. She saw a sign saying "no motorcycles allowed" and that was it: if they are racist against the supercub, obviously they can't be decent human beings. Maybe it just meant she couldn't DRIVE a motorcycle inside the premise, you know, for the noise; we will never know...

I see that and I agree, yet I have the deepest respect for this character as far as the cub repair situation went. She's a tad too impulsive but she's got her heart in the right place.

I made sure I got a solid job (kinda a trade) before I moved out to focus on my hobbies and I highly recommend others on this wavelength (that can do so) as well. It's way easier and more fun to work on your dreams without having to worry too much about money.

There's been rough times, especially when I was laid off, but I wouldn't trade the experience for the world.

The other perspective is that she started from nothing, but she's learning to be independent. It makes sense for her to want to figure it out herself. There's no life where you don't have to learn from your mistakes. Rarely do you know if your decisions are good until you've made them. The engine repair went just fine, with a bit of help from Reiko. Maybe she'll find a live-in apprentice job in a motorcycle shop.

Oh, this smell the manga ending. I enjoyed this. Everyone said that this manga is just a big advert for Honda, but the Cub really is one of the backbone of Japan (and other Asian countries) economy and livelihood. It moves people and goods, and precursor to many modern scooter/motorbike.

Thank you, Reiko, for showing Koguma how to pull head studs using the double-nut technique, but... remember that Koguma snapped one of the studs so there probably weren't enough threads left on that stud to use that technique. Maybe she removed it with Vice Grip pliers while we weren't looking. :)

PS. Reiko, you are champ for bringing a torque wrench. 60 newton-meters is the spec, btw.

This story, this Honda propaganda, is an irresponsible bad example.
College is only temporary, and she could find ways to keep the Cub stored somewhere. Isn't Shii also going to college in Tokyo? What if she gets a place that allows motorcycles? Couldn't it be stored there? What about Reiko? What about some one place also?
With her personal situation she can't not grab this opportunity.

The repair went fine because she had a guide and Reiko was there watching over her. Noticed that she forgot to switch a part and Reiko had to remind her?

Also, she wanting to be independent is part of the problem like Beregorn pointed.
What type of independence is that she shuts herself instead of opening herself and learning the most about the situations she is in? Her life is be much harder no matter how much she tries to be strong if she repeats this behavior.

This Cub is also a bad influence no matter how much joy it gives her.
