I also think it shows that he’s starting to develop an interest in martial arts outside of it being an annoying hoddy/hindrance in his life. He’s legitimately wondering if he can do the same thing Mr. ice skater did and maybe even considering taking him on of his own free will

Maybe, at the very least he probably doesn't hate martial arts so much he hates having to fight people. I was just more thinking he wondered how it worked and immediately related it to the spinning force of the bottle and gained understanding from that without having to experience it himself.
