The moment Inori appeared didn't carry any sense of relief or satisfaction with it for me. I was actually expecting Aliyah to give up the ghost and say something like "Nara, I'll join you soon" after being grievously wounded mere seconds before her enemies start dying horribly. I don't think this counts as a rescue, not with her on the verge of death like that. This was a predatory action on Inori's part, feeding on the soldiers as his prey with Aliyah as convenient bait.

With friends like Inori, who needs enemies? Oh yeah, they're not friends too. Right, this is an edgy power fantasy devoid of friendship and trust. I'm actually having mixed feelings about keeping Aliyah alive, on one hand, it seems like a mercy to let her die rather than continue living with her gaining freedom, but losing just about everything else in exchange. If she wants revenge, I don't know if she can rely on, let alone trust someone like Inori to help with it. She'll have to do it on her own.

Over and over again this character has gone out of his way to demonstrate his lack of fucks about other people, and been uncaring regarding dire consequences; he plainly doesn't give a shit about anybody but himself.

As for the abhorrence of my commentary, I've got to wonder: is it the gross description, or the criticism of the writing?
Because the description is intentionally vile to match the lack of compassion and humanity in the story; but the writing is a story about a deeply uncaring being, and I stand by my criticism of it.

The point of having chest skills with a debilitating drawback is to have some level of stakes in the story, and to fit with the whole vampire aesthetic.
It'd be lame if everyone was dying in the party and the -only- reason he didn't help was because he's dark and edgy and just doesn't care about people. But instead, the reason he didn't help was because he literally couldn't.

No one is denying that he was weak at that time, stop bringing that up again and again, otherwise it begins to look doubtful that you understand anything, when you can't even get the point of my comment.
