We’re gonna find out that this was all a misdirection and that they probably didn’t try to kill him. He likely freaked out over all the attention and ran away (like most harem manga male MCs do), and fell down the stairs or something.

Either that or they were all fighting over him, he tried to stop it and accidentally got pushed.
