Redundant? Not at all. Are you perhaps confusing 'revenge' for 'justice'? Revenge is done solely for one's own pleasure, to satisfy yourself. So it is pointless unless Raoul does it by his own hands, any other 'punishment' is just an extra that has nothing to do with him. Imo this is 'true' revenge, and I am very much enjoying it.

I disagree!
For someone like the Princess or Wendel, reputation was everything to them. The mental damage they went through from Raoul would be far worse than Hell, which only gives Physical damage (so far).
I do understand that continuous painful death in Hell would affect one's conscious in a disastrous way, but I personally think that Raoul's punishment far exceeds the one in Hell, because it was designed for that 1 person in mind.
