Onigashira is still ahead though, a handful of quick wins would be enough as they're in the final round. That said knowing Fukumoto she'll get a yakuman in the next hand anyway.

also it helps when you can just discard without fear of a big hand

Exactly you can play more aggressively when the hands are cheaper and getting to tenpai fast doesn't mean you automatically win sometimes the tile(s) you need just don't materialize
