The both of you should've just chosen to marry each other, fucking dipshits. There's literally no reason why both of you couldn't have just gotten married and continued to protect the village other than some retarded tradition and duty

Page 25, well shit at least the chief has the self-awareness to admit that indeed all of this is your fucking fault for trying to have a girl, who already had a mutual love with the guardian of the village, to marry your son and have her fuck someone else in front of her true love. Fucking hell.

Ohhhhhh so that's what the modern shrine is about. Demnit, it's so poetic. Especially because Jinya did cry!
I also now understand why Kiyomasa cared for Suzune so much: he saw himself in her.

Everyone did what they thought was good for the people they love, and somehow it caused everything to end up horribly.
The demons too, appear as more tragic then anything else. Sigh...

You really don't understand anything at all. Please grow up. From the way you talk, I can see that you have the mentality of an 8 years old. If all people did the same as you, the society would be in chaos. Bashing traditions and duties just shows that you are an ungrateful, self-centered and selfish brat.

Usually I'd agree with you that it's dumb to say that they're stupid for not giving everything up to go elope as if they had any idea of what would happen, but based off what we know now about the chief's more selfish reasonings I am more inclined to believe that there wasn't a massively important reason for her marrying someone else that would've helped them protect the village, so in hindsight if he didn't press on the issue everyone would still be perfectly fine and happy. Like don't curse out the mcs for having the audacity to follow traditions and care about their entire village - being mad about that is really stupid, I'm not disputing that - but also it is becoming more and more evident that this whole thing didn't need to happen. For the most it's tradition and duty keeping them apart, but those values didn't need to be at odds with their relationship.

Its just an unfortunate Tragedy, is all.

I agree however this person is taking everything lightly. True Its the chiefs fault, he knows that and he will bare it to his grave. But its not like without the demon's manipulation suzune wouldn't have accepted the things the way they were either. She seemed empathetic, with a grudge perhaps she would've understood.

And on the other hand - if all people thought like you, we would still be in the stone age. Traditions and “Duty” do sound nice, but in the end a human is an egoistical being. Traditions and beliefs are things that are supposed to tame that egoism in favor of ones in power of the society. But the only reason we grow as a species is because of those egoists, that refuse to keep things going the same way as they are. Scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs - None ever made a revolution in their field because it is a tradition, in fact scientists worked AGAINST traditions up until recently.

So whats wrong with being egoistical? You only have one life as far as i am convinced, do you really want to live it out by being enslaved by the belief system of someone who may as well not be alive anymore?

As far as i am convinced, any selfless action a person can commit takes roots from a twisted ego. Society(parents, schools) twisted their belief system to the point where the strife for approval by others outweighs their own self. I don't think it is healthy to have bounds like that.

Watching the anime, it's interesting to see the scenes and details that were excluded.

The female demon earlier on had an internal dialogue that suggested if her kind's future wasn't threatened she'd prefer co-existence (the type she saw between Jinya and Suzune) rather than going through with the plan and likewise Kiyomasa here is revealed to have survived and understood Suzune's feelings.
