I'm glad she realises she's acting a bit weird.

"This is Yuu-nii's fault after all..."
Nope. It's all on you.

Bringing up childhood memories to embarrass kids is a parent's privilege. Even if it's not the right parent.

I mean to be fair, she did an almost complete 180 with her personality from tomboy to girly girl.
She's still a rather mischievous girl, but that's about it.

Unfortunately in chapter 3 she depicted without tan. I hope its just technical issues. :meguuusad:
What's even the point!

I get it but the problem lies with the fact that he wasn't even able to make a reasonable guess despite knowing well that the girls would've grown and would be in Highschool by now. It just feels like the Author is forcing him to not function as a normal person. If he remembers them and thinks about them, then his first guess should've been one of the three girls, why the forced stupidity?
Didn't he have the perception that those girls hated his guts, hence why they teased him at every waking moment?

Even if he realizes those girls have gotten older and could still recognize him now, just as they have the mindset of 'childish tomboy brats', he likely still thinks they hate him, only now they grew out of the teasing and try to avoid him at all costs. That's probably why he would never think those girls would go out of their way to get his attention again.

I might just be covering for him with my own guesses, but I'd say he's half-right about those 'tomboy brats' never changing, seeing as how this one here doesn't take accountability for her own actions, blame it on MC, and instead of owning up to her past, she tries to keep her identity hidden out of her own embarrassment.

Calling it right now, it's not just the MC, everyone in the cast is stupid. Even the mother, who's likely just sitting back to enjoy the show unfolding before her, will end up feeling stupid when her son goes to prison.

To y'all saying it's unrealistic that the MC doesn't recognise her, I have first hand experience of being in that situation. I used to stay at a friend's place in university because it would take me 2 hours 1 way to get to school while it would take me 15 mins if I stayed at his place. He has 2 younger sisters, and 1 of them was 12 when I was there. This was 10 years ago. My friend got married 2 years ago and I was his best man. I could not recognise his youngest sister at all! She changed a lot from 12 to 20 years old.

Thanks for the (half) chapter, Chieri Project. Really, you should just wait until you have a whole chapter and release them as such. Piecemeal chapters appeal to almost no one (there's always the outlier).

Others have said that MC-kun's mother and Miya are also responsible for the conundrum, and I think they're right--but only to a certain degree. It's not as if he's going back to a blank slate: it's his hometown, in which he can remember what's where and what should be but is no longer--in other words, what's changed. That said, he's been given a fair bit to work with:

・The girl's face already evokes vague senses of familiarity in his mind
・The girl isn't treating him like a total stranger and thus keeping him at arm's length, but instead is very friendly with him--enough to play with him and wax physical, while continuing to subtly seek his company
・The girl, once the topic of her name was broached, looked at him expectantly--and he noted this himself, mentally
・The game the girl is playing indicates that he should be able to figure her name out
・His mother knows the girl, and will not allow MC-kun to cheat

In addition, all of this is happening in the context of his hometown--which allows for a lot of easy connections to be made. Speaking of Miya, her looks shouldn't mean anything: he himself already imagined how she must look quite different after ten years and the ways he expected her to change. Even if he was totally wrong, it'd make no sense for him to imagine someone so different from the actual person as to be someone else--unless he had cause to imagine such, like knowledge that she had in fact changed unrecognizably (e.g., she'd become obese).

These things should click in his head or the author won't allow them to for as long as it's expedient for the story he wants to tell, which is par for the course with not just romcom stories but just about any that isn't completely serious: it's a useful tool for padding, but it blatantly marks a lack of writing skill and/or laziness.

Raws for 3.2 was available at the moment of publishing this chapter, backed by Indonesian version. Does it was available when they start translating it, i dunno.

Sorry, girl. He's a harem rom-com protagonist. That means he has the situational awareness of a brick and the emotional intelligence of a potato. You could trip, fall lips-first onto him, confess with a marriage certificate in hand, and he'd still think you're friends.
There's no way she would want to marry me that way.

I doubt the meat of this manga will be him trying to figure out her name, for what it's worth, that'll probably last maybe 2 more chapters at most.

Anyway, don't really know what to think of this yet, but if nothing else, the artist is very good at making funny expressions.
She'll finally tell him after he gets a girlfriend. "But I liked him first!"

Does... does the mom want her son to bang a minor? I'm concerned...

But yeah, as a lot of the comments are saying the MC shouldn't really be chastised for not immediately recognizing someone that was a literal child (like early elementary school age child) when he last saw the and whom he thought had moved away. She looks and acts a lot different. He doesn't as much because he was a lot older. It makes a lot of sense who recognized who and who didn't recognize who. It's her own fault playing coy with it and making it a game. It also digs the hole deeper as she gets further and further away from just introducing herself and moving on.
