It doesn't matter who believes what, Japan's court system is not a TV drama like in the US. It's not about convincing anyone with theatrics and the jury does not give final ruling. There's either enough evidence to link her to the murder beyond reasonable doubt, or there isn't. In this case there's zilch, all conjecture like in the previous incidents. As in all other chapters, the culprit only goes down because they admit it themselves. The author really isn't bright enough to come up with a quality intrigue.
Bro it’s Japan. Guilty until proven innocent. It’s standard practice in Japan that if you’re in court, the assumption is you did it, otherwise you wouldn’t be there.

If you're talking about the high conviction rate (though it's only a bit higher than say, the US) then let me remnind you that only a minority of cases actualy go to court. The prosecution only goes forward if it's a rock solid one, otherwise it's dropped. It is true that the cops have a tendency to "extract" confessions, though again, not much different than the US ones.
