She had the perfect opportunity again to come clean and she still didn’t do it. Instead she gave him a sullen lie and talked down to him. Every denial like this just makes it worse.
I’m hoping that he’ll spend the next few chapters confirming his suspicions and ultimately confronting her. At this stage she deserves to get caught rather than coming clean when she’s decided that she’s ready to do so.
This guy is middle-aged. I don't even know how he survived till this point in corporate if he is so clueless and naive. The corporate world would have ripped him apart
