Additionally we know that when Yuu arrives he doesn’t seem distressed or hurt. He appears overly apologetic, lies, and tries to blow it off, and when caught in his lie he immediately changes his story and doubles down, but keeps the details suspiciously vague. This tells us that he’s not in as bad of a mood as you would expect following a fight, or as dower as you’d expect of someone who had just shared a final goodbye, if anything his initial mood is arguably forced relief.

Finally we discover from Hikari’s monologue in the LN that Yuu would absolutely know that Hikari would not normally let him sit and apologize for this long, let alone stay silent. So he should be aware that her behavior is abnormal, but does not explain further, simply apologizing more and doubling down. With this we can infer that either he feels shame about why he took so long to come find her, or that he’s not allowed to talk about it.

Optimistic theory is Yuu in some way came to terms with Yami, but she made him promise not to tell Hikari, possibly even pushing him to go to her at the end of their talk.

Btw i like this theory a lot and im gonna consider this canon until proven otherwise. Hell, even its proven false i might still just consider this as the real ending lol

Maybe it's just that Hikari > Yuu > Yami, maybe it's an unintended side effect of how the story's written, but reflecting on this, I realized something: I don't like Yuu that much when he's around Hikari. I kinda liked him when he was earnest and sweet around Yami, even if he was a bit of a dipshit (age-appropriate.)

Probably not what the author intended, but it doesn't inspire much hope for their future if this has been the best she brings out of him.

well MF is too late to realize she like MC, she only realize it after MC in relationship with Yami Senpai (ref chp34), and we know even though MC denied it he like MF (ref ch23) but because Yami Advanced he end up falling for her, and through the series we know that MC feeling to MF become just admiration to her maybe a bit feeling of like and MC still hold strong feeling to Yami Senpai we can see it from he always mention someone he like, its just MF misunderstood that MC mean is her even though he mean is Yami Senpai, and for the latest chapter its just my theory maybe MC lies to her so he not hurt her feeling for being used to get ticket to enter the festival for the chance to meet Yami Senpai again.

So i really cannot blame anything for MC or Yami.

Note : Yami senpai didnt realize MF crush is MC she only realize sometime after the pool date when MF mention Ta-kun as Yu, so there is no way she can say to MF that the person she has crush on is her ex

Here is what we know about Yuu - he had feelings for Hikari. He decided to hinge whether or not he confrsses his feelings for her on passing an exam (This was self-imposed btw). Once he fails the exam, instead of talking to Hikari about the stuff he is going through or his feelings, he hooks up with Yami. Hikari may not have been his BEST friend, but they were close enough that they hung out together all the time.

Just from reading the Manga, and especially after this chapter, Yuu's issue is that he is SUPER passive. He wasn't even rejected by Hikari initially, he just talked himself out of shooting his shot because he failed a test.

He could see Hikari didn't think of him as a man at all, and it's confirmed by Hikari herself later (or earlier in the manga). He knew he stood no chance. So what was the point in confessing and making their friendship much more awkward?

Then he ditched Hikari in this chapter which is a dick move whether he thought he was going as a friend or as a date. He sucks ass bro.

As for this, I think was explained several times already:

This chapter is the aftermath of Yuu meeting his ex-girlfriend who ghosted him and cut him off, completely out of the blue to him - I'm not entirely sure how I would react in that situation but I don't think I would stick around for my friends in that context either tbqh, I'd probably be feeling like shit. We know that he kissed Yami but we have no idea what happened after or before - frankly we just don't know this dude at all. Maybe he does end up being a huge jerk, I wouldn't be surprised, he's a teenage boy.

Agree, hell I think he should've never agreed to come to the festival if he wasn't willing to tell her about Aya - but it also seems like he may have been blindsided when he first met Yami & then they got too caught up in whatever (I lean towards fighting/talking) & like this is the first time he's come up for air & that's why he's a bit dazed/shell shocked as described in the novel.

At this point we don't know how Yuu and Yami met, but assuming he ran into her by accident, you can't really expect him going "before we talk this all out, let me send a couple of messages" and Yami just standing there, waiting until he finishes typing.
He didn't leave Hikari on read, he actually only read her messages shortly before meeting her:

Hikari: "Then, why didn’t you check LINE?"
Yuu: "Actually, um... my phone died..."

As if he could see right through my thoughts, he started making excuses for all the times we’d missed each other, even though I hadn’t asked.

But, you know, that’s a lie, right?
