Being dickish aside was the unrequited love character necessary. I'm sure she'll move on when all is said and done but it seems way too tropey in an already trope filled series.

Tho I do like this MC above others as being someone who takes care of themselves and is responsible. Than the usual blushing, somehow is living, mess most adult MCs tend to be.

If the MC becomes a mentor to the heroine while also being her boyfriend I think the story would actually nail a healthy age gap relationship.
