The biggest problem with these kind of stories is how the object of their affection is usually just the most bland, generic type of guy. Nice, but not over the top. Not handsome, not ugly. Not especially smart, not a dumbass. No romantic feelings towards women, barely even aware of the other gender. Et cetera.

I don't ask for much. But I know for certain that the overwhelming majority of women aren't into generic "nice" guys who have no hobbies nor interests.
