It's pretty weird to see in manga cultural things you would do yourself, but that don't exist in Japan. A successful depiction here. The mangaka could have thrown in the honour guard at the fallen soldiers' memorial, as it probably would have been something Jun would pay attention to. Unless the graveyard is too new for that.

Dish brush? I assume to clean off the gravestone?

It's wild that this manga has taught me several random niche details about my own country, like I had no idea dogs were legally allowed at graveyards here until I read this and looked it up. The ones I visit the most have signs that prohibit bringing them but I guess churches elsewhere might be more lax?

Anyway, I read through all these chapters recently and it's really really impressive how faithfully this manga captures the very essence of Finland. It's nice to read about the things you sort of take for granted and don't give much thought to in everyday life, seeing them through Jun's eyes puts them into a whole new perspective. The art is also stunning, and it takes me out every time someone goes 'perkele' lol

Thank you for the translation!

I'll admit that's not technically in the original text. They do swear, though it's all generic stuff. No one ever says perkele specifically, but I feel it adds a little extra flavor lol

It definitely does and genuinely adds to the Finnish vibe more than them just going 'damn' or something. It's my go-to swearword for inconveniences and fumbles so I really truly feel for the characters whenever they use it lol. Love the attention to details like that in your work, they make reading this all the more fun!
