This story seems medicore at best, what's amazing it even had anime adaptation.

Indeed. The "mystery" is hardly a "mystery" if it's outright explained and obvious from the first chapter.
I mean, eerie mansion, sketchy residents, bite marks...
Also "tragedy", people dying left and right, sure they got introduced but even if they pass away, hardly feel any attachment as they feel like a "monster of a week", just skip to another chapter.
Thanks, soundtrack is nice, classical and choir is my poison.
