Yeah, ideally you'd go for lye, basically ~5–10% NaOH by weight in water.
So, for every 10 liters of water, you’d add 500g to 1kg of sodium hydroxide, you can use higher concentrations (up to ~20%) speed up the process but it's more dangerous to handle, and you need to aim for 150°C (302°F).
The good thing is that alkaline hydrolysis doesn’t smell “rotten” so it's generally less stinky, but it's a messy process (you are literally making soap and that bitch will probably never drain in the tub).
