Interesting premise, but I'm annoyed with how dumb the author is.

Really? You're telling me they had a functioning society that developed magic and that was actively fighting off the threat of demons, that they could handle leatherwork, blacksmithing, carpentry and weaving, but they never figured out they could put leaves, hay or feathers inside a sheet, close it up, and make bedding? Hell, you don't even need to make bedding. Go in the barn and sleep on the hay, that's miles better than straight-up wood, how would people not realize this?
