I think "confront" is a strong and charged word. She hasn't shown to be malicious at all so far and knows it would make Tanuki hate her more if she antagonized his sister so if anything she's going to do something else to get the rumors about her to die down a bit.

Maybe her logic is if people see her hanging out with Mochizuki they'll assume she's there for her and people will ignore the person who almost said it was Tanuki she was visiting. It also lets her cozy up with Komaru and maybe be an actual friend to get some appeal points with Tanuki. Part of the issue is Komaru is always alone without any other friends (female or otherwise, but female would be more important) so Mochizuki being there would go a long way towards getting people to back off beyond the most egregious offenders.
