Personally, speaking from an artist's perspective, I would have thought there is some muscle atrophy in the mix. She literally states that she spends most of her day cooped up arting, so she probably isn't spending the kind of time flying that a harpy normally would. (The idea that the art mediums themselves having toxic impacts is also a great point.) Just a little disappointed by how surface level this chapter felt. :'D

I think Amami wrote off the paint solution as not directly involved by process of elimination. There are often diagnostic symptoms to the different kinds of poisoning associated with paint materials, and the harpy girl probably had normal complexion and otherwise normal physical activity apart from the extra strenuous strength she seemed to need in order to perform flight.

If there's no sign of poisoning, there's no need to immediately suspect poisoning. It's oftentimes a horse, not a zebra.

Thanks for the translation! As always, it’s such high quality. Amazing work.

God this manga is a masterwork. Every page is so well done. Mustache man continues to scheme, we’ll see how this turns out.

What I find weird, is how her mixing paints is immediately written off as a possible cause of her issue. Olden time painters mixed weirds ass shit to make their paint back in the day, so the odds of her using something with noxious fumes leading to issues is absolutely possible if not outright likely.
When you hear the sound of hooves, think horses, not zebras.”

Yes, the various poisonous substances used in paints could be a factor, but you eliminate poor sleep and poor diet first before wondering about arsenic or cadmium poisoning.

When everyone thought she's poisoned but it's just obesity lol

It thought she just doesn't have enough exercise as painter, so her muscle are in shambles despite not gaining any weight. But guess they choose it to alludes Amami's lack of sleep since it might cause big problems later on. Imagine if someone dying but he's sooo tired and sleepy he lost consciousness during operations :worry:

This is my own fault but I have completely lost the plot of the stuff going on with the main human city and church guys, so I've been skimming through the parts with them, which leads to more confusion. But the medical stuff was way more engaging and I kind of wish this was just about trying to bring modern medicine to a fantasy setting. Im sure when they finally connect it'll be interesting, but as it is now i'm getting nothing from it

I wonder when Amami is going to go see the Demon King... but more importantly, will it be willingly or not?

This manga is just as much spy thriller as it is medical

Not that sort of symptoms. Many old-time paints were lead based and lead poisoning gives you all sorts of trouble all across your body.

Amami reminds me of All Might, had he been a doctor instead of a superhero. That grin of his always makes me feel like he will save the day.
