Also, why do you feel like you need a redrawer? I see nothing wrong with this.

It's a lot of work for a solo scanlator to also do a lot of heavy redrawing. Can quickly double the amount of time or more spent on a chapter compared to working on a manga without need of redrawing.

I get that, but I guess so far when I've seen people say that they need a redrawer in that way it seemed like they were talking about quality.

This is of course a personal preference, but I honestly hate it when especially sound effects get redrawn. I find myself preferring the ones that do minimal alterations usually...

Of course if there's a lot of transparency, text that's not in boxes or balloons over complex backgrounds, etc. I can see that having to just put a white box on top of that isn't great either...

Honestly, your approach sounds perfectly fine. There are some cases where great redrawing can enhance things, but that's not all serie. =)

No I'm currently on a scanlation hiatus. Don't know when I'll be back, if ever.
I think the old school crowd like me prefers it that way. The sfxs are kind of part of the art, so I don't really like removing them either.

Yeah, I'm fairly old school as well. Also more and more I see the sound effects mistranslated/too localized, which annoys me quite a bit...
