I don't think it's about "buying" the relationship, the MC is in a way a link to her past childhood, a sort of "normalcy", and she is afraid of losing it

She's not broken, though. She just got super self-conscious about the guy she has heavy feelings for and is using her natural talents and skills to try to be as alluring as she thinks she can be to get him to confess to her first. Bet we get to see an inner monologue of hers and it's just her going full ADHD-hyperfixating on all the mistakes she thinks she makes while interacting with him. She's def got that perfectionist vibe going on full tilt.

If anything, when she stops requiring perfection for her interactions with him, is when shit might actually start getting good for them.
