From what people have written here, it sounds like it probably had enough source material to adapt another volume, but I guess the contract was just for the artist to do two volumes. It was most likely just advertisement for the light novel after all.

Indeed, I quite liked it, I was perfectly fine with the pacing so far, I felt we need some clear progress but not an ending come on, they could still do much more time related sheninigans, rediscover new things together, hell they mentioned the whole bed stamina I think at least twice and never deliver on that?
What about their family?

It doesn't matter if the original is a short story when the Mangaka could expand on that, it often happens, hell there is the one about the 2 "yandere" sisters and the Web Novel is very short while the manga added a lot.

I have a feeling the reason they did two volumes instead of three, besides that it was just light novel advertisement most likely, was to keep a tight pacing and to not clutter it too much and drag it on. Better to have a well paced and written two volume story than a dragged out three volume story.
