i mean its not like he's actually for being with his daughter like that. its a thing that dads imagine their kid doing cause the dad doesnt want their kid to leave the nest.

as for the killing thing, you'd be right about it if it was real life but in fictional worlds like manga the dad doesnt end up actually killing the groom and it's just a overly protective father thing thats been a thing for decades. Hades even the Yanks do it with the whole bit where the dad threatens the BF with a shotgun and tells them he'll kill him if he dont treat his daughter right.

all in all, imma disagree about it being toxic as its typically played for laughs and not to be taken seriously.
