I think I'm biased against Marui. I don't really care for his growth or revival and just want Kano to succeed. Maybe this will change later and he'll become a really cool character, but even now, dude's just not it.

Fascinating arc. I think most people want to see the protagonist succeed, but when he's so incredibly gifted (as geniuses typically are -- they just have that something else that makes them special) there is something to be said for having one of his blind spots exploited by a tactical type.

Sakura mentioned it the last chapter, he doesn't really think about anyone else. It's a lovable trait in its earnestness, but has some drawbacks. Given how clever the author is with his writing, I'm guessing this'll be a banger. Looking forward to it.

Kano can't succeed on his own, Marui's lighting a fire under his ass by giving him competition. A life of baseball extends way beyond Koshien and he absolutely needs to get better for that.
