Kouki "Oh look a side quest, let's go do it"

Hajime "Fuck that, I'm done with getting sidetracked, I'm sticking to main quest"
(high chance he'll ends up doing side quest later anyway)
If it's on the way to the main quest or is REQUIRED to complete (which might as well have made it a main quest then LOL) then he'll do it largely because at that point it's an objective, or can be done in PROGRESS to the main objective! Hajime more hates wasting time (The realistic view of those side quests you get in some RPG that seem to pop up WHEN YOUR ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE! Like for example everyone's personal quest at the tail end of say FF7 where a Meteor is coming to hit the planet at any moment, but lets go to the Gold Saucer and play some mini games! I know time FREEZES till you progress the story! But I've played a few WESTERN RPG where Time Sensitive means you waste time when your told it's URGENT, you'll fail cause turns out the bad guys or nature DON'T stop till you get there after all LOL) especially if the chances of nothing gainful is gained. (now if it's for those he actually gives a shit about, then it's better to say a SIDE QUEST becomes a MAIN QUEST ON THE SPOT!) And really he ain't wrong!

Gas is expensive, you think I'll accept wasting $50 of gas just to get $5 f%#king BUCKS out of the affair! F that noise!

having lofty ideals is nice and all... But staying realistic is better. You ain't changing anything by rushing head first thinking you can fix something that is ingrained in their culture. Better off getter stronger first and show "might is right" to these people.

why are heroes in mangas depicted as anti racism activists? its not like they promoted those ideas in their background stories beforehand back on earth.

EDIT: regarding your confusion, miiabestwaifu, im just under the impression that the isekaied people in this story are very loose cannons and the hero guy here cant get priorities straight to stop them.
feels somewhat hypocritical how he applies his morals.

Problem is, so far (until he was Summoned), Kouki had always made it through any situation with such lofty ideals.
Aka., to him the more lofty his ideals were the higher success rate he had.
Just blame his current mental state on the Super Luck he had back on Earth before being summoned (sadly that Super Luck only worked for him, not the people he supposedly saved).
