Having thought about this for a while, I still think you're mostly right. But at least in some stories — I'm thinking specifically of here and in the Pentarou's Great Adventure chapter — I think she's also enjoying getting to experience the childhood-with-friends experience that she never had.

I'm definitely a ponytails guy, but seeing Kishka change up her hairstyle is a nice change of pace too.

I think I'm dying of diabetes from how adorable this chapter was. Kusuri and Shizuka having fun, Yaku being so clueless being so endearing, Kishika being both the strong commanding girlfriend for Rentarou and having fun in baby mode, the lineup of head pats at the beginning, it's too much. And seeing more of Yaku's mature side is always a plus.

As someone who cares for their 70 year old grandmother and did the same for their over 100 great grandmother before she passed... I absolutely feel Rentarou and Kishika's pain regarding Yaku and modern tech.

That feeling when you're so lost in thought you fail to realize the fondle goblin is motorboating you.
